Learn the truth about Holodomor- a genocide rarely ever talked about, but one which has had huge ramifications and mirrors modern conflict.
Join us on the National Day of Ukraine to both celebrate with the Ukranian Community and reflect on their lives and impact in the UK, whilst commemorate and reflect on The Holodomor — the man‑made famine of 1932–1933 — during which millions of Ukrainians perished under the Soviet regime.
The early evening programme will combine celebration, reflection, commemoration and connection, plus food and drinks will be provided.
The exhibition is organised by PLAST – Manchester Branch, the United for Ukraine project, and Sunflower Manchester charity, was created by the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and was recently displayed at the UK Parliament. It was then brought to Manchester, hosted in Central Library with the support of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
We are thrilled to host this Exhibition in our Flourish Hub in Altrincham, supporting several Ukranian women changemakers supported by Flourish, who will be at the launch event on 24th August . Plus the exhibition will remain up until the end of the week, open 10am – 4pm to raise awareness and for people to drop in and explore, reflect and ask questions.
