Achieving Purple Flag status
Purple Flag status was achieved by Altrincham in 2023 and is renewed each year through an annual assessment. It is a significant achievement for the town, recognising its dedication to providing a safe and vibrant and enjoyable nightlife.
Awarded by the Association of Town and City Management (ATCM), the Purple Flag is an international accreditation and is awarded in recognition of excellence in managing and promoting a diverse, entertaining, and secure evening and nighttime economy.
Altrincham has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years and has a thriving dining scene and eclectic mix of shops which make it a destination for locals and visitors alike.
Collaboration between organisations
Achieving Purple Flag status required collaboration between Altrincham BID, Trafford Council, Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), Altrincham nighttime economy businesses, the community and other partner organisations. Altrincham BID, who produce Visit Altrincham, led on the submission.
