This achievement highlights Altrincham’s commitment to maintaining a high standard of nighttime entertainment, enhancing its overall appeal and contributing to its reputation as a vibrant and thriving community.
Purple Flag towns and cities have shown that they are well-managed and offer a safe, vibrant, appealing positive experience to customers and visitors. They are welcoming to everyone, offer safe ways to travel home and provide a good mix of venues and entertainment that appeal to a range of age groups, with a strong emphasis on families.
As a result of solid partnership working Purple Flag towns and cities generally benefit from a higher quality environment, more visitors and lower crime and anti-social behaviour. If you would like more information or to get involved, email info@altrinchambid.com.
BID Business Networking Events
The BID hosts regular business networking events including:
- Special speaker events e.g. GM Mayor, local MP or Leader of Trafford Council
- Professionals in Partnership
- Netwalking
- Lunchtime Networking
These regular business networking opportunities support BID businesses by providing a place for them to strengthen their local relationships. By doing this, they sow the seeds for reciprocal assistance when they need help to achieve their goals. Exchanging information on challenges, experiences and sharing ideas is a key benefit of networking.

Altrincham BID has a Business Walking and Cycling Group. This group meets quarterly, and its key objective is to look at ways to support and encourage Altrincham’s business community to cycle, walk and use more sustainable modes of transport. If you would be interested in joining the group please let us know by emailing info@altrinchambid.com.
CargoCycle Trafford
Altrincham BID successfully ran Cargo Cycle Altrincham, a pilot project which introduced cargo bike deliveries to local businesses. As a result of further funding, the project will now be rolled out throughout Trafford. Cargo Cycle Trafford is a programme to support businesses within Trafford to switch to more sustainable freight and logistic methods.
Greening and Cleaning
The BID funds a rolling programme of high-pressure deep cleaning, and regular clean-ups in the unadopted areas, the alleys and ginnels.
The railing planters at Altrincham Interchange are also funded by the BID including seasonal planting and maintenance. The BID also sponsors two planters on George Street, and operates a hanging basket scheme for BID businesses.
Altrincham BID also supports two of the town’s voluntary organisations, Our Altrincham and Altrincham in Bloom, by funding their insurance. This supports the volunteers to maintain the planting around the town and for it to be regularly litter picked.
Christmas Lighting Scheme
The BID funds the town wide Christmas lighting scheme which was extended and enhanced in the BID’s second term. Investment is also being made in a festoon lighting scheme for some of the town’s alleys and ginnels. The BID also funds the tree lights in Goose Green.
Sponsorship Opportunities
Altrincham BID produces a varied events programme throughout the year from the town’s annual Lantern Parade to business networking events. There are a number of opportunities to sponsor these events. Sponsorship will help to increase the visibility of your company or brand to different audiences and help you to target specific demographics, whether that’s through sponsoring a community or business event.

Social Media
The BID has an average reach across all social media platforms of over 50K per week. BID businesses are able to utilise these platforms. Businesses can tag the BID into posts or request dedicated posts as part of specific campaigns. The BID will also share press releases and new stories on behalf of BID businesses, both as online promotions on Visit Altrincham and on social media.
