Voluntary Membership
Altrincham BID offers a Voluntary Membership scheme for Altrincham-based organisations who are either outside the BID area or within it but not eligible to pay the BID levy – for example, those without rateable premises, those based in shared spaces, or local charities, schools, and community organisations.
Voluntary membership is primarily for businesses located just outside the BID boundary, and those in areas such as Broadheath or Atlantic Street that are closely connected to Altrincham town centre.
Voluntary members play an active role in the local business community, contributing to and benefiting from the work of the BID.

Voluntary BID Business Membership Benefits
- Invitations to BID networking events, launches, and social occasions.
- Access to BID training sessions (with priority for levy-paying members where places are limited).
- Up to six social media features per year, which may include a combination of dedicated posts and inclusion in relevant BID campaigns such as Paint Altrincham Pink or Mental Health Awareness Week.
Visit Altrincham’s social media platforms provide strong local visibility and engagement, with 25k followers, an average monthly reach of 130k and monthly views of 904k (Oct 2025).
- A dedicated business listing on VisitAltrincham.com, including contact details, business description, images, map pin, and category placement – helping locals and visitors find you easily and providing valuable online visibility through Altrincham’s main business and visitor website.
Please note that voluntary members are not eligible to join the BID Board or vote in the BID ballot, and all new applications must be approved by the BID Board.
A membership fee applies.
