Working Groups

Town Management and Retail Security Group

The Town Management & Retail Security Group meets quarterly to discuss and address key town centre issues, including fly-tipping, graffiti, commercial waste management, retail security, and other aspects of town management.

The group brings together representatives from Trafford Council and Amey, Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), the Stamford Quarter, and BID businesses across the retail and hospitality sectors.

The meeting now also includes a focus on transport and active travel, exploring ways to encourage and support Altrincham’s business community and residents to cycle, walk, and adopt more sustainable modes of transport. TfGM also provides updates on the Bee Network and other transport initiatives.

Landlord’s Forum

This group will brings together landlords, letting agents and developers.

The purpose of the group is to:

  • To enhance understanding of the commercial and residential property market in Altrincham
  • To improve the appearance of vacant properties where possible
  • To identify any emerging trends/issues in the town centre
  • To discuss consultations/planning applications
  • To update on developments in progress and planned
  • To influence the future make-up of the town centre
  • To facilitate information sharing between private landlords, letting agents, developers, and Trafford Council

Best Bar None Working Group

The Best Bar None Working Group brings together partners from the local authority, Greater Manchester Police, and the hospitality sector to encourage and support Altrincham’s venues in achieving Best Bar None accreditation.

The group works collaboratively to promote high standards of operation, safety, and customer care across the town’s night-time economy.

Purple Flag Working Group

The Purple Flag Working Group brings together representatives from the local authority, Greater Manchester Police, the hospitality sector, and other partners to discuss matters affecting Altrincham’s night-time economy and to work collaboratively on the annual renewal of the town’s Purple Flag accreditation.

Purple Flag is a national accreditation that recognises towns and city centres that offer a safe, welcoming, and vibrant night-time environment for visitors, residents, and businesses.
