Award-Winning Choirs Unite for ‘Hope for Peace’ Concert in Altrincham!
An award-winning Altrincham ladies’ choir will join forces with a top UK male voice choir for a special concert this May.
Di Voci will host The Wessex Male Choir for a joint Hope for Peace concert at St George’s Church Altrincham on Saturday 9 May.
The two choirs first met as competitors at the Bangor International Music Festival in Northern Ireland in 2024, where Wessex narrowly took first place. The friendly rivalry has since developed into a musical collaboration.
The concert will feature a varied programme including classical favourites and modern choral pieces, with both choirs performing individually as well as coming together for several songs.
Founded in 2007, Di Voci performs regularly across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, supporting local charities and presenting its own concerts. Their wide repertoire includes sacred music, folk ballads, pop, gospel and contemporary choral works.
“The Wessex” is an award-winning amateur men’s choir based in Swindon, Wiltshire. Founded in 2001 the choir has grown into a vibrant ensemble of around fifty singers led by their Musical Director, Thomas Graff. It is one of the UK’s leading male choirs and has enjoyed success at major competitions, including the male choir category at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.
Known for its energetic performances, the choir performs across the UK with programmes spanning classical, sacred, musical theatre, folk, rock and pop.
The Hope for Peace concert takes place at 2.
30pm on Saturday 9 May at St George’s Church, Church Walk, Altrincham.
Tickets cost £12 (£5 for school-aged children) and are available online or on the door.
