Yum Cha is Coming to the Stamford Quarter’s Foundation Building

Dim sum kitchen, Yum Cha, is set to open a brand new restaurant in the Stamford Quarter’s Foundation building this summer.

The new Yum Cha will be located in a 2,166 sq ft unit on the ground floor of Foundation. It will sit alongside three other retail, hospitality and leisure brands including Lane 7 and Starbucks.

The new restaurant, located in Altrincham’s Stamford Quarter, will be the second Manchester location for Yum Cha. The popular independent dim sum brand, famous for serving up roast meats, noodle soups and traditional Chinese classics, has three existing sites located in Manchester’s Kampus community, Warrington and Liverpool. Further details about the new restaurant will be released nearer the time of opening.

Commenting on the announcement, James Tootle, Head of Retail and Leisure at Bruntwood, said:

“Yum Cha’s decision to open their new restaurant in Foundation is a testament to the exceptional quality of retail and hospitality in the Stamford Quarter. It’s the perfect location for attracting visitors to the town from both the local community and beyond. With an already exciting and eclectic mix of brands, we are thrilled to welcome this fantastic independent restaurant to the heart of Altrincham. We are confident that guests will love Yum Cha’s renowned dim sum.”

Adam Wan, founder of Yum Cha, added:

We can’t wait to open our doors in the Stamford Quarter and the Foundation building is the perfect location for us. We opened in Manchester city centre in August 2022 and after the phenomenal response from our fantastic customers, Altrincham seemed like the perfect place to expand. The Foundation building has created a brand new destination for eating and drinking within the town centre and we’re delighted that Yum Cha is now a part of the already burgeoning Foundation community.”

A spokesperson from Trafford Council, said:

“Foundation completed in March of this year and incorporates a total of five floors, including three floors of market-leading workspace. The completion of the Foundation building signals a major milestone in the wider transformational plans for the Stamford Quarter, which will regenerate the high street and establish the area as a new and exciting destination for Altrincham.”
