The Stamford Quarter Launches Summer Play Days in Partnership with Altrincham FC and Søstrene Grene

The Stamford Quarter is launching a brand new series of family-friendly Play Day activities throughout the summer, with a whole host of FREE interactive workshops, experiences, games and competitions for all the family. All activities will take place on Stamford Square, as the outdoor space gears up for completion and launches its summer programme.

The first weekend of events will be hosted in collaboration with Altrincham FC and will encourage families to take part in fun fitness sessions. The football workshops will take place in Stamford Square on Saturday 15th June, and will be led by Altrincham FC community coaches Dan and Sophie. The workshops are aimed at children aged 4-10 and will include mini football games from 1-2PM, followed by a series of multi-sport interactive games from 2-3PM. For anyone wanting to join in, the FREE tickets can be booked via Eventbrite, and a special goody bag will be available for the winners of each session.

On Saturday 22nd June the Stamford Quarter’s community mural, created by local artists Kirsty Gabsai and Rick Eades, is also set to be installed. Residents and visitors who took part in community workshops throughout May will see interpretations of their words and cartoons come to life as part of the new visual art installation, which will sit on the kiosk space opposite Starbucks. There will also be music and street food on Stamford Square to mark the occasion, and children will be able to get involved in creating the installation using spray paints and stencils.

Søstrene Grene and the Stamford Quarter will then team up on Saturday 6th July to host a series of playful art workshops for the whole family to enjoy. Perfect for both adults and children, there will be a number of crafty crepe paper activities being held on Stamford Square from 12PM - 6PM. Tickets are FREE and can be booked via Eventbrite.

The Stamford Quarter is the perfect place for families to enjoy a whole day out with a great mix of food and drink outlets and national and independent retail brands. As well as the brand new Starbucks which recently opened at the Foundation building, there’s also Costa Coffee located on George Street and Little Dessert Shop on Stamford New Road, all of which serve a great variety of coffees and delicious cakes. Stamford Quarter is also a one stop shopping haven for picking up summer essentials with a mix of major labels such as H&M and Søstrene Grene, and boutique independent stores including Gift and Home,
Skanda and Parasol Store.

The play days are part of the Stamford Quarter’s Summer of Play programme. Focussing on the themes of 'Makes, Tastes, Moves and Sounds' events will be taking place on different weekends throughout the summer and will feature a fun and engaging range of activities for the whole family to get involved with.
