Proximity join Altrincham BID as a Voluntary Member

Proximity, a firm of Chartered Surveyors who identify, manage and mitigate Proximity Risk for property developers, are the latest business to join Altrincham BID.

Co-founded by Directors Mike Scanlan and Tom Kibblewhite the business advises property developers on a diverse range of projects across the UK.

We spoke with Mike and Tom to find out more about Proximity Risk, the services they offer and why they decided to get involved with Altrincham BID.

What is Proximity Risk?

Proximity Risk is the collective risk posed to property developments by issues like rights of light, daylight & sunlight amenity impacts, solar glare, construction access to land and airspace, the need to administer the Party Wall Act and construction nuisance.

These risks are present on most developments and, in many cases, could have a huge impact.

Programme delays, cost increases, trespass, funding problems, buildability woes, injunctions, judicial review and legal nuisance are all consequential risks. If not proactively identified, quantified, managed and mitigated, they could potentially threaten the viability of a project.

What makes Proximity different?

We’re tried and tested in a sector that needs specialist knowledge and expertise, and we take responsibility for the work we do – we’re all about making a positive impact.

Our processes are key to the way we work, but the most important thing is enabling our clients to make confident and informed decisions. We allow them to do that by offering clear and considered Proximity Risk advice based upon many years of experience.

In short, we make the complex, simple.

Why did you decide to join Altrincham BID?

Altrincham BID does a great job of bringing the business community together to support each other and celebrate successes – we wanted to get involved and make sure we’re doing our bit!
