‘Paint Altrincham Blue’ takes place from Monday 7th – Saturday 12th November; a week of events, activities and offers to raise awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health.
Tony Collier explained, “I was unfortunately diagnosed with advanced stage prostate cancer in 2017 aged 60. Since then, I have been an ambassador, awareness speaker, volunteer, and fundraiser for Prostate Cancer UK. The aim of ‘Paint Altrincham Blue’ is to raise awareness of prostate cancer as well as other men’s health issues including testicular cancer and mental health, and to save men’s lives. I’m enormously grateful to everyone whose involved in the week of activity”.
Throughout the week Altrincham’s businesses will be decorating and lighting their windows in blue as well as selling blue themed products, like cocktails and cakes!
On Thursday 10th November at 7.30pm there will be a FREE PAB Men’s Health Awareness Evening with three inspirational speakers – Neil Fachie OBE, Paralympic cyclist, Dan Rowe from Andy’s Man Club and Tony Collier BEM. Everyone is welcome (Register on Eventbrite.co.uk). The event is taking place in the Altrincham FC Community Sports Hall, Moss Lane, WA15 8AP.
Come and see the fantastic artwork, created by local schools, displayed in the windows of shops and businesses around Altrincham. If you’re attending the Altrincham v York City match on Saturday 12th November, the players will be warming up wearing Prostate Cancer UK tops and there will be a pre-match bucket collection.
If you would like to find out more, join Tony for a sandwich and a pint at The Station Hotel on Monday 7th November from 1pm or in the Stamford Quarter’s ‘Not So Secret Garden’ between 10-12pm on Saturday 12th November.
Other highlights include a FREE Blue Twiddlemuffs Workshop organised by Art with a Heart and hosted by Full Circle Funerals Partners, Blue Lagoon Cocktails at Just Plonk, a blue cake raffle at Off the Wheaten Track, blue themed workouts at Orangetheory Fitness and PureGym Altrincham plus a super citrusy and delicious blue cocktail called ‘The Tony’ at The Con Club!
