Maguire Family Law, the organiser of Capturing Altrincham photography competition, has announced a deadline extension until July 31.

Maguire Family Law, the organiser of Capturing Altrincham photography competition, has announced a deadline extension until July 31.

With close to 100 photos already submitted, James Maguire explained why the family law firm has taken the decision: “We are really enjoying seeing all these fantastic photos, and we want to give local people as much chance as possible to enter the competition.

“We are also keen for local schools to send in images; we have a special Schools’ Prize of £250 art supplies, so we hope that by extending slightly, we give pupils and teachers more time to enter after the exams.”

How to enter

The deadline for entry has been extended to 31 July; we will announce the shortlist in September
The photo can be of anything; it just needs to represent this area in some way — whether that’s the people, the natural environment, landmarks or local wildlife.

Any camera will do — even your phone. Just make sure it’s a good quality image, as we will print it out to A3 size, and if it makes the shortlist, it will be displayed later in the year
Make sure you tell us if you are entering the ‘Schools’ Category’ and share your age with us, all ages are welcome.

Please share your image via social media if you can, remembering to tag with @maguirefamilylaw  @_jamesmaguire and #maguirefamilylaw #capturingaltrincham2022
You can also email your entry if you prefer to maguirefamilylaw@peppermintsoda.co.uk or post it to Maguire Family Law, Stamford New Rd, Altrincham, WA14 1EE

Plus, for those who fancy doing some of the judging themselves, a People’s Choice Award, where people can vote for their favourite photograph via social media, has also been included and can be accessed via Facebook

All ages are welcome in the competition, which will see local residents scoop prizes including £750 cash for first place, £250 for second and dinner for two in a local restaurant for the People’s Choice Award/third place. The schools’ category will see a young photographer win £250 worth of art supplies for their class.

A shortlist selected by the judging panel will be displayed in a local exhibition, and the winning photographs will be revealed at a special event. The event will include a charity raffle and the chance to buy prints of the shortlisted images. All money raised will be donated to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
