Legal Community Comes Together to Support Trafford Domestic Abuse Services at Charity Seminar

The Trafford legal community gathered this week for an insightful family law seminar hosted by Charlotte Percy, Family Law Partner at Lund Bennett Law and Family Law Lead for Trafford Law Society and Claire Higham Associate Solicitor at Slater Heelis, raising vital funds for Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS).

Held at the stylish West Beverley in Altrincham, guests enjoyed an exceptional corporate breakfast featuring warm pastries, granola bowls, bacon sandwiches, avocado toast and unlimited tea and coffee, generously funded by Trafford Law Society in support of the cause.

The seminar focused on Modern Families and Legal Issues on Parentage from the Moment of Birth, expertly presented by Marissa Allman, Barrister at 36 Family Group Chambers in London. The talk prompted thoughtful discussions around contemporary family structures and the legal challenges faced by parents and families in today’s society.

Attendees also heard from Sam Fisher, CEO of Trafford Domestic Abuse Services, who shared the charity’s inspiring story. Celebrating 35 years in operation, TDAS is notably the first domestic abuse service in the country to offer safe accommodation for male survivors, alongside its many spaces for women and children. Sam highlighted the financial challenges the charity faces, revealing that each bedspace costs £44,000 a year to maintain — funding which is crucially supported by community events like today’s.

Reflecting on the success of the morning, Charlotte Percy, Family Law Partner commented:

“I’m incredibly proud of how our legal community came together to support such an important local cause. The generosity shown today, paired with the invaluable insights shared by Marissa Allman and the moving testimony from Sam at TDAS, made this event a truly meaningful occasion. It’s a powerful reminder of the difference we can make when we work together.”

Funds raised from the event will go directly to supporting the ongoing, life-changing work of Trafford Domestic Abuse Services.
