Helen Carouzos Psychology is the latest business to join Altrincham BID

Helen Carouzos Psychology is the latest business to join Altrincham BID as a voluntary member, we chatted to Helen about her business and reasons for wanting to join Altrincham BID.

“Hello there, I’m Helen and welcome to Helen Carouzos Psychology. Located in the beautiful surrounds of Denzell House and Gardens in Bowdon, we provide professional counselling and coaching services to support you with life’s challenges, whatever they might be.

When the pressures of work and life are unrelenting, your capacity to cope and your life satisfaction and work performance can be diminished. However, you’ve been affected, counselling can help. We know that one in four of us will experience a mental health condition at some point in life, however not everyone reaches out for help/support when needed. Being more preventative with our mental health by seeking out support sooner rather than later means we can tap into and build on our existing resources to help minimise or avoid a mental breakdown. We’ll work together to identify why you feel stuck and establish better coping strategies to help you regain control while staying true to you.
No two people react to stress in the same way, which is why it’s important for us to work together to identify a tailor-made approach. Using specific psychological interventions, you’ll become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. This can help you manage your own mental health and bounce back from life’s adversities. Resilience is key.

Confidential counselling will provide you with the space to have safe, open, honest conversations. By exploring your innermost thoughts and feelings we’ll discover where you are now, your obstacles and set a course to take you to where you want to be.

I’m a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years of experience working in private practice and with organisations across the full range of corporate psychological services. My work with individuals struggling with various mental health issues combined with my training experience both in Australia and here in the UK, has also provided a solid platform to advise and train local businesses on issues from customer service to stress management, to managing change and performance.

My specific expertise with Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) has assisted many organisations with their employee mental health and wellbeing programs. This has contributed towards measurable outcomes such as greater productivity and performance, fewer absences, higher morale, fewer stress claims, greater teamwork, improved communication, and better work/life balance.

Feeling connected to my community is very important to me. I live and work in Altrincham and so signing up as a member with The BID was an easy decision. Living close to the town centre gives me an opportunity to get to know local business owners who equally share my passion for what they do.

Exchanging stories about our businesses, establishing that common ground is what unites as a group. I’ve always believed that success in business is not just what you know or who you know BUT who knows YOU! Our relationships in business is what counts!

The more we know about each other and our businesses the stronger the connection and the more likely we can be supported. The BID is our supporter and promoter in business. It is uniquely positioned as Altrincham’s business hub, keeping us all informed of what’s happening with our businesses and how we might get involved in the community. That strong sense of belonging brings purpose and motivation in what we do and when this happens, we all THRIVE.

So, please feel free to pick up the phone or email me to say hello, I’d love to hear from you and perhaps we could even meet up for a coffee at one of our many lovely cafes in Alty.”
