A new self-guided Altrincham heritage trail, Discover Altrincham: A Journey Through Time, was unveiled at a launch event at Altrincham Town Hall last week.  The launch was attended by members of Altrincham Court Leet and other individuals who supported the development of this project.

The trail, created by Altrincham BID who produce Visit Altrincham, is designed to bring Altrincham’s history to life through a collection of landmarks, stories, and key historical points throughout the town. The initiative has been funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), allowing Altrincham BID to develop the trail and which is a FREE activity for locals and visitors to the town.

Mandy White, Director of Altrincham BID explained, “Discover Altrincham: A Journey Through Time is an exciting opportunity for everyone to engage with the history that has shaped Altrincham into the vibrant, thriving community it is today.  We are incredibly proud to have brought this project to fruition, with the help of many contributors, to offer both residents and visitors a chance to uncover the layers of history embedded in our town’s fabric.”

The trail features a series of marked stops, each highlighting significant moments or interesting anecdotes from Altrincham’s past. Additional photographs and videos can be accessed via QR codes and there are interactive clues throughout.  The digital nature of the trail will allow it to be updated and developed over time.
