Celebrate Christmas in Altrincham!

Altrincham’s Christmas celebrations start on Saturday 20th November with the town’s magical Lantern Parade.

From midday local schools’ and community choirs will take to the stage in the Stamford Quarter’s ‘Not So Secret Grotto’ for a festive musical build-up. The parade itself starts at 4.15pm from Goose Green and meanders throughout the town to The Stamford Quarter for the finale, a Christmas singalong with The Music Place at 5pm, during which the town’s Christmas lights will be switched on.

Large lantern puppets will be joined in the parade by local school children who have taken part in lantern workshops, members of the Altrincham Garrick Playhouse Peter Pan cast, Altrincham’s dance, music and nursery schools including Aura Music Academy, Onyx Academy of Dance and Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery.

For those wishing to join the parade, there will be FREE lantern making workshops throughout the day at Inch Arts on Stamford New Road. Places at the workshops can be reserved on Eventbrite.co.uk.

Other highlights for Christmas include ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ FREE street theatre taking place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 26th November – 19th December, in locations throughout the town including The Stamford Quarter, George Street, Stamford New Road, Lloyd Street, the Downs and Oxford Road.

There will also be a ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ FREE family town trail. Either complete the trail over 4 weeks or from Friday 17th December when all the installations will be in place! Collect trail sheets from Jake Shoes (24 George St, WA14 1SF) and look out for the letter or number with each of the installations for a chance a win a family ticket for four people from the Everyman Cinema!

‘Carols from King’s Court’ takes place on Thursday 16th December from 6pm led by The Music Place with festive food and drink from the King’s Court businesses and why not come and see Altrincham’s Festive Windows from Saturday 20th November, and vote for your favourite in the ‘People’s Choice’ competition hosted for the BID by Altrincham Today.
A jam-packed programme of festive workshops and events from Altrincham’s businesses is also highlighted in the BID’s Christmas flyer.

“Altrincham at Christmas is truly magical, and we’d like to encourage visitors to come in and enjoy the events, and everything the town has to offer including fantastic high street experiences, restaurants, bars and shopping. Come and celebrate Christmas in Altrincham!”.

The Lantern Parade, ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’, ‘Carols from King’s Court’, along with the town’s Christmas lighting scheme is funded by the businesses in the town and produced by Altrincham Business Improvement District (The BID).
