Main aims of #OpLioness:

  • Ensuring town centres during the night-time economy hours are kept safe, well managed and welcoming. Our officers will assist with this and are actively involved in tackling violence against women.
  • Providing dedicated officers in high vis foot patrols.

Partner Agencies that will be involved with #OpLioness:

  • Pub Watch
  •  VLPs – underage drinkers, license checks, SIA checks.
  • Taxi license checks
  • Street pastors
  • COVID marshals – to help with the taxi marshals and safe streets initiative.

GMP want YOU to have a great night out! As part of #OpLioness, you will see an increase of officers on Friday and Saturday night that are proactively patrolling venues and hotspots in Greater Manchester. This is part of a force wide operation to tackle violence directed towards women especially on nights out in the city and town centres. A dedicated policing team will be out in hi-vis uniform in our towns and city centres to ensure that people feel safe whilst they are out.

Keep an eye out for increased police visibility on Friday and Saturday during #OpLioness to tackle violence against women on nights out.
